the mountain escape
The homeowners and Greg worked together to design and construct a Craftsman-style home without the steep imposing roofline. The home was constructed with large beams in the entry, rustic carpentry, and pine.
The journey to complete this home was nothing if not dramatic. Not long after work began on the property, one of the state's biggest and most dangerous fires broke out nearby. Roads were blocked by state troopers and no one was allowed to approach the property. Greg recounts successfully finding an alternative route to the property and scrambling up a rocky slope so that he could turn on a sprinkler to keep the property wet while a fire raged 400 yards away. "I didn't want to start from scratch again. It's about treating the home as if it was your own and doing whatever it takes." His plan worked, and the homeowners were able to move into their home in the Fall.
